Q: How is Aggie House able to provide housing and resources?
A: We get our funding through a variety of different sources, including community and campus grants along with personal donations. To make a donation, check out the 'donate' tab. This allows us to rent a townhouse and enable us to provide food and other resources.
Q: How can students be housing insecure or homeless?
A: A variety of situations can lead students to experiencing housing insecurity or homelessness. This includes everything from suddenly having to take care of a family member to escaping abusive situations.
Q: How many students in Davis face homelessness or housing insecurity?
A: Data from the ASUCD-GSA Housing Affordability and Insecurity Survey shows that over the course of the 2017-18 school year, 18% of UC Davis students experienced either homelessness or some form of housing insecurity, 7% of students reported being homeless at some point, and approximately 2% of students spent time living in their car or another place not intended as housing. If this is representative of the UC Davis population at large, this could mean that over 2,000 students are affected by homelessness in any given year.
Q: Who is eligible to stay at Aggie House?

Q: How does Aggie House operate its shelter?
A: We rely on a dedicated base of trained student volunteers to staff and maintain our shelter. Generally, we staff two volunteers to stay overnight at the shelter. These volunteers will cook a meal and perform certain chores. Interested in volunteering with us? Check out the 'get involved' tab.
Q: Is Aggie House religiousily-affilated?
A: No! Aggie House is a secular organization. We welcome folks of all races, religions, countries of origin, sexual orientations, genders, ethnicities, and abilities. Although we have rented and continue to rent our space from religious organizations, we do because these organizations are more flexible as landlords. Aggie House strives to one day have a place of its own.
Q: Is Aggie House the same organization as CA House?
A : No! Aggie House is and always has been a completely different and separate organization from CA House. This is a common misconception. From Fall 2021 to Summer 2023, Aggie House rented a townhouse from the Multifaith Living Community (MLC), run by the Cal Aggie Christian Association (CA House). When CA House in early 2023 informed us our rent would increase significantly, we decided not to renew our lease and look elsewhere. This is how we ended up at our current location at The Belfry.
